THE OFFICIAL SELECTION OF PRIMED 2011

The Primed 2011 shows a considerable increase in film number (more than 300) and a constant variety of participating nations (more than 50).

The pre-selection works has been organised in June from 20-24. The jury was composed by:
Amer ABOU-DAYA – ALHIWAR TV
Nathalie ABOU ISAAC - CeReM
Jacques BAYLE – France Télévisions
Nadia BENDJILALI – www.lejmed.fr

This year the selection hasn't been easy because of the high quality of the films in competition.
In the category for the "Grand Prix" the principal subjects are the status of women in contemporary Islam,  the Israeli Palestinian relationships analysed with the original point of view of sustainable development, and the problems of mental diseases in Egypt.
In "Mediterranean Memories" category  we found histories about  colonial wars,  utopias and transmission of memory from Spain, Morocco, France, Algeria and Italy. Differently "Arts and Heritage" category shows this year in a real "boom" of  inscriptions and different subjects with films  In particular we found in this category a lot of very interesting examples about the relationship between tradition and modernity in music and religion. In the others categories Primed offers an uncommon and original portrait of the Mediterranean sea: from “Arab spring” to Palestinian  jokes, to the difficult situation of the remote mothers in Spain, to the never-completed buildings of the south of Italy, to the communities of Gypsies in contemporary Bulgaria.....
